It was my dream to visit the pristine forests of North East (NE) for a long time. But I was all confused, worried, and unsure - Where do I start? Whom do I contact? Will I be safe?
I then remembered my first NE trip to Nameri, Kaziranga and Hoolangapar. I was ‘all-alone’ then but I thoroughly enjoyed that trip. In fact, I felt completely at home then. Remembering that, I ended up choosing Sikkim as my next NE destination.
I came to know about "Going Wild”, a tour operator, through Facebook. They provide regular updates about their tour plans to some of the amazing destinations, and amazing photographs from those places. I was following their updates and they were punctual in updating the sightings after every tour. That was really impressive and I bit the bait! : P
Decision thus made, I signed up for the Pangolakha birding trip with Dibyendu Ash for Oct'16. He was really helpful in providing information about the place, and suggestions about the stay, flight options, etc. Unfortunately, or fortunately, all the co-participants dropped off and I came to know a week before the trip that I was the only participant.
Turned out to be an exclusive trip only for me!
Day 1:
The flight destination was Bagdogra and Dibyendu Bhai had planned to pick me from the airport. I had booked the flights with Vistara for the first time. The connecting flight was via Delhi and there was hardly 40 minutes between the flights. I was worried if I would catch the connecting flight from Delhi to Bagdogra and not sure about Vistara services. But it was one of the best! Really enjoyed their services - comparatively spacious seats, hot meal, and they ensured that I got the connecting flight. I reached Bagdogra airport in single piece and Lo behold Surprise! My baggage was coming out on the conveyor belt. ....... [Click here to read from original website of Vinodh]
