Wildlife Photography in three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India

I would love to start off with Sundarban National Park. This serene locale of rustic Bengal will have your mind blown for sure. This mangrove forest is a complicated collection of many islands, 102 to be precise and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site also perfect for those who indulge heavily in wildlife photography because the forests host some of the amazing wild denizens found in India such as the legendary Royal Bengal Tigers. Other animals found in these forests are cheetals, wild boars, rhesus macaques, two types of otters, large saltwater crocodiles, Irrawaddy Dolphins, King Cobra, a wide range of exotic bird species such as Buffy Fish Owl, Ruddy Kingfisher, Mangrove Whistler and the list continues. Furthermore, if you interact with the local people you’ll get to know a lot about their simple lifestyle and get a taste of the depths of wild Bengal. This offbeat location is pretty amazing for wildlife photography.

Next I’ll move on to the North-East Indian State, Assam, which has kept Kaziranga National Park nicely cradled in love, in its lap… This forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just like a dreamland… the tall elephant grass, the small streams meandering through the forest, the lovely wild animals such as the Royal Bengal Tigers, the very famous; one horned Rhinos, swamp deer, elephants, wild boars, amazing range of primates, exotic bird species, Asiatic buffaloes, etc. make this forest the perfect destination for wildlife photography. In case you are still confused regarding where to go for wildlife photography then add this place to your “to-go list”. This was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1985. Since time immemorial this place has remained a nature lover’s paradise.

Have you heard of Manas National Park? If not, then my friend, you were into oblivion all this while…. Just kidding! Actually Manas National Park too is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India which is famous and frequented by photographers and nature enthusiasts all across the globe. Wildlife photography will find new definition here because this area boasts an abundance of biodiversity and variety. Manas is a bird watcher’s heaven too as some of the most amazing bird species are found here. The animals found in this forest are: - The very famous Golden Langur, Assam roofed turtle, Pygmy Hog, Hispid Hare… these rare species have made this national park a perfect spot for wildlife photography. The abundance of wild buffaloes in this forest deserves special mention. The Malayan Giant squirrel, Chinese Pangolin, slow loris, capped langur, etc. will keep you hooked whereas if you strike it lucky you can also spot a tiger or two in this hilly terrain…. Thrilling isn’t it?
